OVERALL PERSONALITY: A true 50's sort of man as Masaru believes in having a man romance a woman, dine her and treat her right. He shows chivalry but... most of what is shown is to charm women. His silver tongue and unique charms often never leave him lonely and without meals. He enjoys feeding off young women but only a little, never engorging himself or harming the women.
Though Masaru charms women... he's secretly looking for the woman who can resist him. And not just for a little while either... the chase has always been the fun part for him. It's one of the reasons he still can't stop loving his maker.. who he still chases.

HISTORY: Born in Sendai, Japan in the year 1679 was a great time for Masaru. He was the youngest boy in the family, and as such he had quite a lot of freedom. As a young boy he was often getting into trouble with a few boys from school that were sons of noblemen as well. They would often get into trouble for ditching lessons and going around and playing pranks on people. As children it was never more than anything being moved or missing but the items would always turn up in the strangest of places.
This gave Masaru a notorious reputation for being a little bit of a bad boy and he used it to his advantage to flirt with the young noble daughters. But as Masaru and the boys grew older.. the pranks started to get bigger and cause more trouble. It was when the boys were 16 Masaru's father was getting tired of bailing his son out of dumb situations.
The year was 1695... Masaru's parents had decided the young man needed a wife, and contacted a matchmaker. Masaru wasn't wanting to settle down but when his father told him it was marriage or the dishonor... Masaru begrudgingly agreed. He sat through all of the ridiculous preparations, gritted his teeth quietly as the matchmaker inspected him, and even bowed to the woman's parents when he was introduced to them.
Masaru had heard of her though and had seen her in passing but she was nothing special to him. Izumi was a small girl at age 14, thin around the cheeks, flat chested, and had not yet come into her own but Masaru couldn't get past that. All he could think about was how she didn't compare to the girls he had managed to catch the attention of. She was, however, the only daughter of another nobleman so Masaru had quite a lot to inherit.
But despite his protest behind closed doors to his father, he was married off to her. The wedding was large and grand, many people came out to it and Masaru helped himself to the sake and got quiet plastered. Some of the men had to help Masaru to the bed chambers and once there... he had no one but Izumi. Despite all the chasing... Masaru had never managed to bed a girl. And now... here he was with a girl. When he went to Izumi he was shaking, smelling of alcohol and she seemed just as scared as him.
Till this point.. Masaru had never gotten the chance to even talk to her. He swallowed hard, looking over her beautiful kimono and up to her face. Her soft brown eyes, and brown hair tied up tight. He had tried to be gentle with her that night, but sadly he was a bit inexperienced even if he would never admit it.
And even with his wife, Masaru still went out with the boys to gamble and drink, and ultimately playing pranks. Izumi, was a quiet doormouse of a girl, and could not seem to control Masaru anymore than his parents had. Four years passed of Masaru doing as he pleased and Izumi taking care of their home, their daughter Miyo.
One night while out in the town and drinking... Masaru and his friends were watching the Geishas when Masaru decided to play a small prank on a particularly beautiful Geisha woman he had been watching for a long time. As she finished her dance and moved towards the door, Masaru hopped up and snatched the small lute from her hands, playing keep away with her to entertain his friends and make the poor woman chase him. But she didn't. Instead she placed her hands into her lap and bowed to him.
Masaru stopped in his tracks and teased her again, shaking the instrument out to her but again she refused and kept herself bowed to him. Finally, upon his friends getting bored he walked back to her and offered the instrument back. The woman's eyes looked up and her hands touched his, holding them in her own as she rose and pulled the instrument to her arms again. His eyes didn't leave hers and he knew... he knew there was something very different about her.
That night he went home, and all he could think about was the Geisha woman. He returned the next night, and the next night and each time he tried to get her attention to see that close up look in her eyes.
Day after day... he couldn't get any sleep and wasn't even interested in his wife anymore. It was months later, Masaru took a chance and brought flowers to the Geisha, giving them to her and apologized to her for it. She lured him into the back... and it was there he met his death.
The woman who had turned him's name was Lien. She placed her wrist to his mouth and then he found himself lost to her. It was like being drunk.. the rush of senses and the whirl of emotion. The first night she encouraged him to feed little by little off the other Geisha women.. teaching him how to be tender and careful so women would not notice when he did feed. She taught him... a whole new idea of passion and romance. Only as the sun rose did she bring them to her chambers to teach him.. to sleep when the sun was up.
Masaru knew... as he went to lay with her that she was not human. He lifted his hands to his eyes. He saw the cold in them.. and then up to her.. so cold as she wrapped her arms around him. He.. he was no longer human.
