it was a slow night for maya. she was bored. like always. there was never really a day that went by when she wasn't. so, when she was, she would go bother her boss, demon. he really didn't seem to like her too much, and she always questioned why he kept her around. he would never really give her a true answer, other than 'you're replaceable'. at the current moment she was standing down in the casino chatting casually with one of the body guards. she looked stunning in just a casual, but professional outfit. she wore a spaghetti strap, violet-hued silk top that showed a bit of skin around her pelvis bones, a pair of black slacks, and pointed heels. her midnight hair was in luscious waves, flowing down around her shoulders to her mid-back. her bright blue eyes were decorated with metallic black and purple eyeshadow, cat-like eyeliner, and heavy mascara. she was a vision. she always was. maya didn't dress like most would think a bounty hunter would. she didn't need for people to know what she was, and that was the most perfect thing about it. the element of surprise was always a powerful thing. john, do you know where demon is? she asked, looking up at the very butch vampire. i do believe mr. kattalakis is in his office. he responded, glancing down at her before returning his eyes to the casino floor. thank you, dear. she replied before turning on her heel and making her way into the backroom.
of course the employees knew who she was, so she didn't have a problem getting anywhere in the building. except for the demon's office. she always had to have permission to enter. that was fine because she really didn't want to walk in on him feeding off someone or worse. that thought made her shudder. he was ancient; didn't look it of course but still. it was strange. when she was that old she'd probably give up on getting it on. for a human a man stops really working when he's fifty. he was a thousand or older and just... gross. maya shook her head to clear those thoughts. she didn't really want to look at him and burst out laughing and then be questioned about it. that would cause for a very awkward situation. one that she really didn't want. she was a pain in his ass anyways, she didn't need to give him any kind of reason to snap her neck just because she thought the fact of him getting it on was disgusting and disturbing. a soft giggle fell from her lips. get it together, maya. she thought and straightened her face once more.
as she came to a halt before two guards in front of demon's office, she crossed her arms and looked up at them. they didn't say anything. really. can you let demon know i'm here to see him? she said, brow arched. they still didn't respond. a low snarl came from her throat. now. they looked at each other and then huffed. one turned and knocked on the door. miss. valyntine is here to see you, sir. a sweet smile spread across maya's lips. thank you. very much appreciated.

This is my kingdom come. Demon heard her coming even before she addressed his security so rudely. He sighed heavily as one of the men addressed him through the door. He pinched the bridge of his nose and counted backwards from ten. He had to remind himself that Nicolai Vinci didn't like it when his bounty hunters went missing and he didn't like dealing with Vinci after he made those hunters disappear because he lost his temper and killed them. Killing his fellow members was a bad thing because then Vinci got onto him and made him want to kill him. He could kill the man, too. He was older and stronger, but he didn't feel like dealing with the fall out of that. Yet. There was always tomorrow.
"Send her in, Kell," he said tiredly.
He was at his desk, filling out his paperwork. He didn't touch computers at all unless he wanted to break them. Now he did all his work on paper then made other people put it all on computer. All he knew how to do and had the patience for was make and receive phone calls. Even that he screwed up on at regular intervals. Ah well. None of that actually mattered. He just hoped dealing with Valyntine wouldn't be too much of a headache.

maya walked into demon's office with a coy smile on her lips. her unnatural eyes glittered with mischief. she walked to the front of demon's desk, sat down in one of the chairs, and looked at him. she was quiet for a moment. demon. i'm bored. she said, giving him a rather irritated look. i need work. i need something to do because you know what happens when i get bored. i make my own work and frankly, it never ends well when i go on my... temper tantrums. she said. maya really wasn't trying to be defiant or anything. she really was bored. a bored vampire was never a good thing. they lived for eternity and that could lead to really bad things happening. it didn't really bother her for going on a killing spree, but she really didn't want to face the wrath of demon. she looked at him for a moment, then something clicked in her head.
what is going on in harper valley, new york? she questioned. i know there has been some supernatural activity there. werewolves... vampires... magi... she continued. she wanted to know what was happening there. it struck her fancy.

This is my kingdom come. "demon. i'm bored. i need work. i need something to do because you know what happens when i get bored. i make my own work and frankly, it never ends well when i go on my... temper tantrums."
Demon pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath to curb his temper. Dealing with Maya was like dealing with a child. She was very loud, very demanding child. Then again, Demon was just glad he didn't need to change her diapers. Granted, keeping her happy and entertained wasn't much better.
"I'll see what I can find for you," he said, pushing a button on his office phone and spoke into the phone. "Hadley, is there anything particular we should look up on?"
Hadley was a Vinci member that worked for Demon as a sort of dispatcher. She kept track of all the magi activity in Vegas and even checked up on out of state hotspots. She was who Demon called when he was looking to get a few magi. There's nothing significant here in Vegas, but New York is a different story. Demon knew that meant the city and Harper Valley. He looked at Maya as she asked about Harper Valley. He thanked Hadley and hung up as Maya droned on.
"i know there has been some supernatural activity there. werewolves... vampires... magi..."
He leaned back in his chair and tapped his fingers on his desk as he thought about that. He didn't want her running around in a different town or city, guns blazing. Discretion was the key of course.
"Tell you what," he said. "I'm not entirely certain what you will find in either place so how about you go to HV and New York City. Observe and report only! When you get sufficient information, we will readdress. Okay?"

to be monumental could mean the beyond The vampires bright eyes wandered from Demon and around his office, taking in the decoration. Her lip curled a bit. He could really use a new decorator. She kept that opinion to herself though. She was sure he was already irritated enough with her. Maya knew he hated her, but she truly didn't care. He knew she was good at what she did, and she had a drive for it. It wasn't just a job to her, it was her way of life. Demon would always say he would find someone just like her, but in all reality, that would be near impossible. Sure, they might have the same blood lust and need to kill, but she had the heart for it. She was as determined as they came. Maya's piercing gaze fluttered to the phone as Hadley's voice came through.
Maya lifted her eyes back to Demon, brow arched. He told her that traveling to either; or both would be fine, as long as she kept her trap shut and found out what was going on. A slow smirk rose on her lips. "You've got it, boss." she said with a slow smirk, her red lips pulling up over her row of flawless teeth. Rolling to her feet, her heels met the floor with a sharp click. She placed her hands on her hips, tilting her head. That motion caused her waist length hair to fall over her shoulder like silk waves. "Anything in particular you want me to keep an eye out for?" she asked him, curious as to if he had any sort of agenda. TAG @demon WORDS horrible... <.<

"Anything in particular you want me to keep an eye out for?"
Demon scratched his chin as he tried to remember his patience. It wasn't easy, particularly where Maya was concerned. He had to continuously remind himself that she was very good at what she did. It was a lot more difficult than one might think. Sighing, he leaned back against his office chair and gave her a dry look.
"The same thing you usually are sent to keep an eye out for," he said through his teeth. "We need magi. Pinpoint them and call me with some hopefuls."
This really wasn't rocket science. Demon couldn't do much until he knew what sort of magi and other supernaturals were in the two areas. He rolled his eyes and took a deep breath as he tried to decide if he should trust her with anything more hands on. She was certainly the volatile unpredictable sort.
"If you find any magi, call me and we will go from there," he said. "Got it."
