Albin, my son, Why is it that you have not replied to my many letters? I hear that your teaching has ended, yet you remain in America rather than return you your homeland? I do not understand why you refuse to claim what is yours. Do you wish for your name to lose all value? Do you wish for your grandfather's coven to fall into the hands of those less than you? If you do not return soon, you endanger more than your family's future. You endanger your father's present authority over Rada Ivo. I can not keep the rumors of the prodigal Kosnik boy quiet much longer. There has been talk of electing my successor for when I pass, even without you here.
I will no longer be sending money to you. I hope for you to realize this foolishness must stop. Your father, Feliks.
Many of Albin's days were darkened by notes such as this. It certainly hurt him to endanger what was obviously so important to his father, but all Albin could do was scowl and grumble "Idź do diabła, ojciec." (Go to hell, father.) and set the note aflame. His teaching ended? More like his teacher of twenty years got sick and died! Albin was used to the guilt trip with these letters, but that omission truly struck him.
This offense gave Albin all the more motivation to lay down roots in Harper Valley and America in general if just to spite Feliks. Now if he could just figure out where to look for the nicer supernatural types. Fortunately, news like a man (from Poland, even!) choosing to move into an older house in a town like this for unknown reasons drew attention. He hoped to use this attention to his advantage, going on a walk over to rosewood park to see what, if any, interest he brought with him.
An hour later the attention level was a resounding "Nope" and Albin was feeding some crackers he found in his bag (likely just to have if he got hungry on a walk a few days prior, but forgotten) to ducks by the pond. The results of the friend searching seemed to be three ducks that must have thought a bit better of him. Letting a small chuckle out at these results, the lonely Magi tilted his head back and remarked on "what a cool guy he is."

I'll be the one if you want meto.♥ Anywhere I would have followed you. Say something I'm giving up on you.
Grace Andrews had been feeling extremely strange lately. Well... the past couple days at least. She was very aware of everything around her and more alert than she was before. It didn't make sense to her and it was starting to worry her. She was never used to being so aware of her surroundings, especially when she was outside. In school, she was fine. Around her family, she was fine. Only when she was by herself and out in the open did she feel strange. It was almost like something had entered her and gave her more awareness of everything around her. She could almost feel the trees, and it was like nature was whispering to her but she couldn't make sense of what was being said. So, that is how she got into Rosewood Park. She felt drawn here and so she came. Her white-gold hair was straight today, glowing against the teal scarf she had around her neck. The soft click of her heels on the path was really the only noise she heard. Well, other than the soft murmuring that had gotten louder since she entered the park.
Grace wasn't used to this. It was starting to drive her crazy. Her blue eyes were wide and nervous, looking around. The young woman almost wondered if someone was playing tricks on her. That wasn't possible, though. She looked around multiple times, calling out to see if anyone was following her, and she didn't see or hear anything. Her feet stopped moving, and she stood still, eyes tightly shut and fists clenched. Just leave me alone! she shouted in her head, and then it was quiet. Slowly, she opened her eyes. She didn't hear anything. No murmurs, no whispers. Nothing. Grace let a shakey breath escape her lips, and she wrapped her arms around herself, continuing her walk. That was when she saw a younger looking guy feeding ducks ahead. She stopped, tilting her head. She had never seen him before, and she was amused by him feeding the ducks. Hardly anyone ever took the time to do that. People just merely passed them by when walking or jogging. She relaxed her pose, slowly making her way towards him.
It's nice to see someone actually paying those poor things some attention. she said as she got closer, a friendly smile on her lips. Grace felt it necessary to meet people. Almost like a duty. She played a huge role in the Harper Valley community, and even though she didn't flaunt that, she still took it upon her to make anyone and everyone feel welcome. It was simply in her nature. Some people really didn't it when she bothered them with her friendly greetings, but some were thankful because it was hard to get adjusted to a small community where everyone already knew everyone. Most of the residents here had lived in Harper Valley for generations, Grace being one of them. I'm Grace Andrews. Are you new here? If you don't mind me asking, of course... she said, her cheeks turning pink. She always did that. Jumping in and asking questions before really letting someone talk to her for a while. She loved knowing people. Never did she gossip, but she liked being a go-to for people. She loved to help if she was ever needed. Grace never wanted anyone to be uncomfortable around her. Albin was dazedly watching two ducks in dispute over one of his crackers when Grace spoke. Not expecting to be spoken to given his resounding success before, Albin jumped a bit before turning his head. What he saw was a welcome sight; a friendly smile, rather than the judging glare that he had mostly gotten awaited him. "Grace, was it? Very new, just moved in a week ago." He said, stifling what little accent he had. He did not want to seem more foreign than he had to. Foreign seemed like a bad reputation to have in Harper Valley. "I'm Albin, by the away. Pleased to meet-"
He was obviously going to say "pleased to meet you," but a shameless duck had taken his remaining crackers and was running off with them. He turned to the escaping duck and yelled "podstępny drań! Sneaky bastard! You'd better share!" Albin cringed immediately. So much for not seeming excessively foreign. Sighing, he simply mumbled "That's, Polish." And looked at his feet. It wasn't so much that Grace knew he was Polish, it was that people do not get past that quickly, in addition to him viewing it as an impediment to acceptance. In previous meetings he at least got past introductions before cussing in Polish, which usually derailed whatever conversation he was having.

Grace eyed the guy carefully, something telling her he was different than most people were, but she didn't know exactly what it was. The whispering she had been hearing for almost a week now started back up, and she clenched her teeth. Why won't you just leave me alone? she thought to herself, getting annoyed at the constant noise. She forced herself to let this guy's presence distract her from the noise in her head. An even bigger grin spread across her lips, her bright eyes glistening. "Oh! Well, welcome to Harper Valley!" she said enthusiastically. She loved when new people moved into town. It was exciting for her, seeing as how there wasn't really much excitement at all in the small town.
When he yelled at the retreating duck, Grace jumped slightly, her eyes popping open in shock, then she giggled softly. "They're known for that. Picnics in the summer are impossible because of those critters." she told him. When he told her what the language was, she tilted her head slightly. "So... you didn't move from another state did you? You moved from a totally different country?" she questioned, even more curious now. grace ANDREWS [attr="class","gContainer"]TAG [attr="class","gbox"]@intangiblefancy | [attr="class","gContainer"]OUTFIT [attr="class","gbox"] click | [attr="class","gContainer"]NOTES [attr="class","gbox"]Sorry for the wait. |

Albin tilted his head, trying to size up this new acquaintance. Nothing about Grace seemed out of the ordinary, yet Albin had a gut feeling that there was more to her than was immediately apparent, a feeling not unlike the impression that Harper Valley had given the foreigner Something about the town struck Albin. He had yet to find a town as devoid of activity from supernaturals as Harper Valley. It could be that he had never been in a town quite so small, but the more likely reason in Albin's eyes was that somebody was doing a pretty damn good job at keeping things quiet. However that was being handled made Albin bot fear and admire those running the town "I've been in the states a few years now, actually" Albin said. "but yes, I am originally from Poland." He offered his right hand (which wore a rather expensive white gold ring set with a near flawless garnet on his ring finger) to the new acquaintance. "I'm Albin Kosnik, by the way. A pleasure to meet you." Albin changed the subject with a friendly smile and a nod. The sooner the topic shifted from Poland the more comfortable he would feel.

LOST YOUR BALANCE ON A TIGHTROPE its never too late to get it back. Grace tilted her head when he said he had moved from Poland. Her brows raised in surprise. "Wow, you're a long way from home." she said, smiling at him. When the guy introduced himself and offered his hand, she noticed the pretty ring on his hand. She reached out her hand, her own silver ring with a diamond in the center glittered as she shook his hand. "I'm Grace Andrews. Likewise." she said with another pleasant smile gracing her features. She paused for a moment, trying to figure out a bit more about him since he was new and everything. "Are you going to school anywhere? High school, college...?" she questioned curiously, not really being able to tell how old he was. grace ANDREWS [attr="class","gContainer"]TAG [attr="class","gbox"]@intangiblefancy | [attr="class","gContainer"]OUTFIT [attr="class","gbox"] click | [attr="class","gContainer"]NOTES [attr="class","gbox"]Blah.
