The sun had been set for a few hours now and yet Alex was still sitting in the house, and she didn't know why. It wasn't like Alex had any friends to go see or any errands to run and even though its been a little over a year since her change she still somewhat feared for not only her safety but of those around her. That was no real excuse not to leave the confines of her room but for now it seemed like a fair enough excuse to her to use. She sat on her bed staring at her computer screen as she tried to pass the time by working on a bit of coding. Despite not being in school anymore she still tried to keep her mind sharp and filled with all the information she would have learned if she had stayed in school. One day she will return but that date has yet to be decided. As she typed away she didn't notice the palm of her hand hit the touch pad on her laptop, triggering it to switch pages. With a sigh of grief she attempted to go back to her work when a folder on her desktop caught her eye. Upon clicking it a page filled with black drawings popped up, most simple designs while others were more intricate. Filled with curiosity she began scrolling down the pages, taking in all the designs as memories of searching for them resurfaced. She didn't even have to make it all the way down the page to remember these were tattoo designs she had compiled while still in college.
Soon her curiosity turned into desire; her desire to become normal once again that has been kept hidden since the moment she found out she was a vampire, but until now she was too scared to even try. The more she looked at the drawings the more she began to remember her life before the incident and even though it wasn't the most exciting, Alex was still happy. When her eyes spotted a particular design the memory of the friend of found it for her popped up in her mind and it was then that Alex knew she wanted to do something with herself for a change and possibly have a chance to have atleast a sliver of her old life back, even if it was for a brief moment. Alex had never actually considered getting a tattoo as when the photo's were found they were followed by empty promises to apply one onto their bodies permanently. But unlike then Alex now had drive and that drive was to feel human again even if it meant excruciating pain. In her mind there wasn't any better way to achieve her goal without putting anyone in immediate danger. She couldn't risk going back to school yet, not with the large crowds, but this was a good start.
Alex still had a few hours of nighttime left so when she saw Andrei was busy she grabbed her stash of money she had saved up, printed out the design she wanted, and slipped out of her bedroom window and fell two stories down but it didn't phase her as she landed on her feet with cat-like reflexes. With her mind set on what she wanted she didn't take into account that she may not be able to get one on account of her new physiology she still had yet to fully understand. Andrei told her everything she needed to know but she believed even he wasn't 100% sure about his own physiology. Still, she made her way towards Downtown with a goal in mind and a determined nature to see it through. After a 20 minute walk, with bursts of lighting speed shortening the time by 10 minutes, she made it to Downtown. She didn't know which tattoo parlor would be the best or even how many were around her immediate area but she continued her search until she came across her first one. Though still a bit timid about the whole idea her determination to feel at least a sliver of humanity was stronger and with a deep breath she opened the door and stepped inside with a piece of paper in hand.
