Gia is the kind of girl whom is very easy to get along with for the most part. She is very into learning new things and exploring, and takes it very seriously. She loves spending her time outdoors studying, reading, writing, and observing, and tends to do that a lot. Gia always tries new things and pushes herself to accomplish as much as she can. Gia tends to stick to herself as she intimidates most. Although most do not find her easily approachable, she is outgoing and is always up for making new friends. Gia does an extremely good job at concealing what she is thinking and feeling. Her eyes easily do most of her talking for her. She is charming and witty, and for the most part always seen smiling. Gia loves adventure, and can be dangerously spontaneous and is usually prepared for anything. Simply put Gia is kindhearted and sympathetic for the most part, however there is an unknown fire behind her eyes that has yet to surface.

HISTORY:Giovanna Rose Palladino was born and raised on the lower east side of Manhattan. Her parents Angelo and Camille were both from Italy and had moved to New York only five years prior to having their first and only child. They were not the best of parents, partially due to the fact that they had not really wanted any children. Gia was, as they referred to it as unexpected, but they both knew she was a mistake, and that became evident to her as she got older. Nevertheless they felt obligated to keep her and tried their best to raise her. Her parent's began to realize that Gia at a young age was different, they started noticing small changes in her appearance. This lead them to shun their only child even more. At the age of five, Gia's father had his parents come live with them, to help raise her. Since her parents’ English was barely understandable, she grew up speaking Italian fluently at home, and learned English on her own and at school.
As Gia got older, she saw her parents less and less. Always traveling, and spending a majority of their time back in Italy, she wondered why they had even bothered to move to the States in the first place. She began to resent them, their lack of interest in her life and more importantly her. Nothing she did would make them proud of her. Even when she acted out for attention, they still could care less. Her grandparents, especially her Nana cared for her. She loved them to death. They understood her, and were amazed when they found out that she had the special gift that they too possessed. They helped her as she got older, explaining to her how to control it and with practice she began to hone in to her remarkable ability. She would spend her days at school, enjoying everything she was learning, and without the knowledge of her parents (who could care less) spent most of her nights in Central Park, practicing her shifting abilities roaming free in the only place in the city that resembled the real outdoors. Gia's parents did not know of her ability, why should they? Her grandparents hadn't told them that they possessed it as well, as they had hoped their son would have them. Since he didn't, Gia was their pride and joy, grateful that they were able to witness their precious granddaughter grow and thrive. It was a terrible tragedy, when her grandparent's had passed away, together, in the night. She couldn't help think it wasn't a coincidence, and had suspected her parents to be behind it. After that, Gia was rarely home, for there was nothing left there she cared for. She spend most of her time learning, exploring, and enjoying the freedom she had at such a young age. Her days spent at school and the library, her nights at the park, and on occasion at Lila's home, her one and only best friend.
By the time, Gia graduated high school she was completely done with the city, and her life. She wanted more out of life and because of that, she had outgrown the city. She began to feel trapped, the park was no longer fulfilling her need to be outside. Gia decided to attend NYU, and got her bachelors degree in biology with minors in psychology and zoology. As soon as she had enrolled in school, her parents without warning sold their apartment and left, not telling Gia where they were going. Her hatred for them only grew stronger, how could there be such cold heartless people. Nonetheless, her and Lila got their own place together as they continued their education.
After graduating from NYU, Gia had decided to leave the city in order to fulfill her aspiration of getting the most out of life, exploring and learning everything she can. Gia and Lila found themselves for a year traveling the country, avoiding the big cities and tourist areas. She was glad to have her friend with her. Gia enjoyed getting to know different people and their way of life, especially being able to see all different kinds of landscapes that nature had provided. She keeped a journal of everything she did, who she met, and where she went, as well as a scrapbook with photos and other sentimental items from her journey. Gia earned her money from the various jobs she got when staying at any given place, it was never a lot but it got her by. Gia at the age of twenty-three, had made her way across the entire country multiple times.
It was in Colorado where Gia had grown found of the cougar, making it her preferred choice. The mountains and deep forest had allowed her to roam free without any worries. Lila and Gia had spent a day hiking in the woods, when they had come across the endangered grizzly bear. Amazed by the size and beauty of the creature Gia had been high up in a tree taking pictures of the magnificent animal. Unaware, Lila had come looking for Gia, and when confronted with the bear Lila was not strong or fast enough to escape the devastating attack. Gia in a panic immediately shifted in attempt to fight off the bear and save her dearest friend. Her attempt was too little too late, and the bear itself left a mark on Gia that she would never forget.
After the loss of her closest thing to a family, Gia had decided to move back to the east coast, and try to settle down. Not wanting to go back to the busy, suffocating city, she came about Harper Valley.
