Knowing who you are is confidence. Confidence, not cockiness. Cockiness is knowing who you are, and pushing it down everyone's throat.
Finally, a chance to settle down, permanently, for once. This time it was for real. It needed to be done. Gia was glad to be here, it was, safe. No more running, no more uncertainty. Gia had been all over the place for over a year, and although the experience, and stories were amazing, it was time for some stability. She was unsure of this decision, going against who she was as a person, but something told her this was the right thing to do for now. She needed structure.
Gia smiled, as she grasped the locket around her neck. She looked around the town square, Harper Valley was a nice quite small town, something she needed. This location was ideal, just a few hours away from the city that never sleeps, and a decent walk away from town to the mountains and forest. Perfection.
It was a chilly day, but the clear blue sky and the bright sun made up for it. Gia wandered around town, getting herself acquainted with the layout. She made her way to town square and looked around at the various shops and restaurants and all the people out enjoying the day. As the brisk air smacked her face, she spotted a cafe. She closed her eyes briefly, picturing the sweet warm taste of a latte dripping down her throat. Gia's smile widened, now craving the warm treat. She made her way across the square, as she approached the quaint shop, she glanced threw the glass windows, seeing a few bodies. Gia made her way inside the warm shop and proceeded to the counter. Her head panned around, noticing a few people sprinkled throughout the cafe, her attention focused back at the clerk. "Uh, Hi, I'll have a Chai Latte please." She said with a smile, her hands clasped together touching the bottom of her chin.
Gia payed the clerk, and grabbed her latte, the warmth quickly spreading threw her hands throughout the rest of her body. A small shiver raced down her spine as she made her way over to a table near the big glass windows. She took a seat, glaring out the window observing the activities about town. Gia pursed her lips slightly and took a sip of her latte. She grasped her locket tightly in her free hand and took a deep breathe. "If only you were here."

Osiris... Was not a people person. Or a daytime person. But oh, was he ever a coffee person. Iced coffee, to be exact, far more gentle and caressing on his throat than the heat of regular not-iced coffee. The long-haired rocker found himself behind a reasonably attractive girl in line, but he didn't notice much. Instead, he was caught up in his phone, one of the strange new devices that the kids were coming up with. Back in his day... Sir smirked a little, brushing his hair back into place with slender, white fingers. The technology that allowed him to find his way around in this tiny little town would soon be obsolete, just like the very first Windows program was then. And hard contact lenses. And a life without the internet. Oh well, he decided, putting his phone back in the pocket of his tight leather jacket. Quietly (which was a little difficult, thanks to the deep and somewhat gravelly voice that didn't fit Sir's face at all), he ordered his iced coffee and was on his way out when a voice met his keen ears. Somebody wishing somebody was there with her. Not surprising, for people that actually had friends. Still, he knew he had to chime in. "Don't worry, I'm right here."Curious as to what the result of his words would be, he decided to take a seat not too far away and casually kick back, sipping his iced coffee with a smoothness that was both false and practiced. A mischievous, secret glance was given to the girl with the Chai latte. this post contains 276 words. Sorry it's short! [/blockquote]

Knowing who you are is confidence. Confidence, not cockiness. Cockiness is knowing who you are, and pushing it down everyone's throat.
Gia's big round hazel eyes zoned out across the town square, her grip tightened around her locket. Her mind began to dangerously wander back. That day. Why? Why her? Why then? It didn't make sense. It never made sense. If she had only known, if Gia had told her, maybe, just maybe things would be different. Gia was selfish, thinking only about satisfying her own needs. What kind of friend is that? Not a good one, that's for sure. The two things she loved, tore her apart, and now without one, she had refused the other. Something like that would never happen, ever. Never again.
She had to stop blaming herself, but she couldn't help but feel completely responsible, because in all honesty she was, and deep down she knew it. Ever since that day, things had been different, more specifically, she had been different. She wasn't herself, hadn't been for a while. Gia needed to get her life back together, she needed to desperately find herself again. Yes, that's why she was here. The desperate attempt to move forward. Gia took another sip of her warm latte, the smooth taste filling her body with a spreading comfort, trying to erase the conflict within.
Gia's ears immediately perked up at the sound of a voice. A response to a statement that should have been kept quiet. Her eye's scanned away from the windows, looking for the source of the comment. Her eye's locked in instantaneously on the boy who ever so casually made his way into her day. Gia's hand pressed against her chest, still tightly gripped her locket. She took another sip of her latte, and gently placed it on the table, her mind racing with thoughts. Gia slowly blinked, and raised an eyebrow, "Well, it's about time." She said wryly, taking yet another sip from her now tepid latte. Gia cocked her head slightly, observing and studying the creature before her. It was, what she did. If only she had her notebook, she thought playfully.

Osiris was not a particularly guilty or shamed person. In fact, he didn't have much of a conscious at all. Or perhaps he did, and he simply ignored it. Whichever, he wasn't a people person, as his teleological thoughts and ways were generally deemed less than pristine traits. Not my fault they can't handle ambition. Nonetheless, he was willing to spend a bit of time here and in the present reality rather than the depths of his mind (or of a book), because if there was one thing Sir liked, it was observing others' reactions to this rather odd stranger in black. Others would have been rude and unwelcoming to him butting in on their lives, and he wouldn't have cared. It was comforting to know that he'd likely outlive every single person he met. Even those with a strange scent, new and different, rolling off them. Not human, not werewolf nor vampire. He was puzzled, but unphased. After all, the world had a lot of mysteries in store for him, and he wasn't going to survive another decade if he continued to live in the era of rock and roll. When men were men, but looked like women, his mother often teasingly told him. Oh, man, his mother. Sir reflected on how upset she'd be unless he called her soon. But he didn't miss a beat. Arching one black brow in the girl's direction, a thoughtful smirk crossed his lips. The same slender fingers which had brushed his hair into place now pondered every contour and curve of his cup, as if the rocker was actually contemplating the situation. He had always been a good actor, and skilled in theatrics. After a moment, he gave voice to the concept which had been lurking in his head for already far too long. "Sorry I'm late, miss." Osiris turned his gaze, blue like frosty morning fog and outlined in black for that touch of drama and contrast, to the girl. "You'd think traffic would be better in a little town like this." He then looked out, past the windows, to the world beyond the cafe - where traffic was by all means satisfactory at least. Especially compared to the other places Sir had lived. The oh-so familiar Quebec, Toronto, Los Angeles, Queens, and (briefly) Detroit. Over nearly fifty years, he'd seen his old friends grow up, become parents, and grandparents. He'd seen buildings crafted and destroyed. He'd seen the first human heart transplant, the assassination of various famous individuals, and the first man on the moon. Still, he looked just as he had when he was able to drink legally, and acted younger ore often than not. this post contains 464 words. [/blockquote]

Confidence, not cockiness. Cockiness is knowing who you are and pushing it down everyone's throat. Gia's eyes shifted away from the boy as her mind wandered, something it had been doing a lot lately. Her ability to focus had long vanished and she had found herself easily distracted. Something that she needed to change and fix immediately. Who was she becoming? Images of various places and people flashed through her mind like previews of a movie. All of the places she had been, all of the strange, interesting people she had met on her journey around the states. Her mind locked on one person in particular, Betty, a woman she had met in a small town in Nebraska. Betty, a woman in her early thirties was enthralled with the history of the country, more specifically, the 1920's. She looked like one of the flappers straight from the textbooks; short hair, short dresses, and wild at heart. As she had said, she felt as if she was dropped in the wrong time. People around town called her crazy Betty, and kept their distance. It did not bother her one bit, she was living a full and happy life, and was being who she felt she was. Gia smiled in thought of her friend. She had taught Gia never to be afraid of expressing herself, and showing people who she really was, although Betty did not know the length of the reality of who Gia really is, but she meant well. She related to Betty, and understood how she felt to being unwanted and an outcast.
Gia played with her locket, blinking a few times to erase the movie in her head. Focus Gia. Almost forgetting where she was, her hazel eyes shifted their attention back to the man who reminded her of Betty, only difference was a few decades. Her mind was playful, as a small smirk made an appearance on her face. "Ah yes, the traffic here is terrible. Way too many people." She said sarcastically, shaking her head. Gia glanced out the window, the town square slightly active, although it pales in comparison to the hustle and bustle to the big apple.
There wasn't much that Gia missed about her hometown. There was nothing there for her to miss anyhow. In her travels she had always intentionally avoided the big cities, to her they lacked intimacy, so many people, so many things to do. It was overwhelming. The years she lived in her apartment, she never even met more than half the people who lived in her building. For so many people living in one place, everyone was very private and unwelcoming. Nevertheless, perhaps the one thing she missed was the park, her one safe haven, her private escape. She knew every inch of the palace like the back of her hand. That was her freedom.

Osiris had no friends. He was always a wanderer, dark and shadowy, and at any rate incapable of standing most people for more than an our. Those he could stand simply went their ways in life, and Sir went his - he didn't seek companionship of any sort. He didn't trust, he wasn't very good at caring and most importantly, he couldn't keep his mouth shut. (Well, he could, as long as nobody was in danger of being hurt verbally. That was such a helpful feature.) He was always that figure in black that preferred to stay in his own personal space bubble, which was larger than most. He was an unwanted outcast, and he enjoyed every second of it. Traffic in L.A. had been especially annoying, but nothing compared to Detroit. He wouldn't say so, however. Osiris was on the trail of something puzzling. The girl's smell. It wasn't perfume, for Sir knew the difference between perfume and one's natural scent. And it definitely wasn't human. The more he breathed, the more his curiosity pulled at the reins. With a careful voice, he replied, "At least some are unique..." He took a casual sip of his iced coffee and stared out over the town square with a blank expression, like the eye of a storm. Calm on the surface, but deep within the blue depths of his eyes, the storm was picking up. "They're so..." And so, he turned his gaze to the mysterious girl and her Chai Latte. A slight smile played at Sirs lips. "... Transparent." Sir wasn't the only one with a dash of the unknown about him, or maybe the girl just had very unique perfume. Technology was advancing so quickly, Sir could hardly keep track of which sci-fi dream would come true next. Like cordless phones. Imagine! What are you? this post contains 333 words. Confidence, not cockiness. Cockiness is knowing who you are and pushing it down everyone's throat. Gia's mind wandered back yet again, back to the days, and long nights she spent roaming Central Park. It was where she blossomed. There she could be herself, her full self, not having to hold back and hide who she really was. It was there where she picked up her ever so dangerous addiction. At first, it was little things, squirrels, ducks, pigeons, and rats. The more comfortable she got the more she wanted to expand her addicting talent. Gia's grandparents had taught her everything they knew, and would usually accompany her on the weekends. Her grandmother's poison of choice, a simple dog, breed of choice, a greyhound, while her grandfather loved to get a bird's eye view of everything, as he would normally roam above them as the mighty hawk that he was. She loved their company, but as their age would have it, they were weak, and could not last long anymore. It was a sad sight.
Although her grandparents had issues, they let Gia be, and watched as she tried news things, raccoons, cats, and dogs. She learned fast, and they no longer could keep up. It was only after their tragic death, when Gia got away from the only place she knew, and made her way to the mountains. It was there where she fell in love with the cougar. Making it her preferred choice, she spent most of her time in animal form, running around, climbing, hunting, and enjoying the overall thrill. It was intoxicating.
Gia felt her hand begin to shake, as she finally let go of her grip on her locket. She casually placed her hand in her lap, hoping the shaking would subside. It has been months since her last shift, that fatal day. She thought of the scar on her back. She was most certainty going through withdrawals, and was not sure how much longer she can last. Her eye's shot down at her latte, reluctant to take another sip. Her brows furrowed, as her gaze met the boy's. Gia tilted her head slightly to the side, puzzled. Her faced relaxed, as a soft smile made its way across her face, "Transparent huh?" Gia's hazel eye's remained on the man. Her hand had stopped shaking, resting her elbow on the table, she leaned her head on her hand, "Who around here is transparent?" She asked, curious about the man's comment.
