OVERALL PERSONALITY:Everleigh is a very sweet little girl. She likes to try to make friends and she likes talking to new people. When she starts to trust someone and lets herself get attached she is very protective but she can take it to a foolish level, like stepping into dangerous situations when she's trying to be protective or helpful. It takes a while for her to completely let her guard down but you wouldn't realize it at first because she's so friendly and outgoing. She's been taking care of herself for a long time and doesn't really realize that she's just a kid and shouldn't be alone so letting people take care of her is hard for her. She's selfless and will worry about others to the point that she might do something that's not such a good idea for herself, thinking that she's doing the right thing for someone else. Ever has a big conscience and will sometimes over-think and stress herself out.
Ever doesn't have a "fight or flight" response. She only has a "flight" response. If she's afraid or intimidated by someone then she'll run and hide. She has abandonment issues due to being in foster care. She's been in situations where she's been "returned" so she might think someone is going to give up on her if they get mad at her. She's never really had a normal parent/child relationship before. She's very gentle and sweet, though. She just doesn't have a lot of confidence in herself.

HISTORY: Everleigh was born to Kyle and Adelyn Mason on April 15, 1999. They lived in Boston, MA which is where Ever was born. Everleigh was actually born two weeks early after her parents were in a car accident which forced Adelyn's labor. Ever had to be cut from her mother's womb after her mother died in the accident. It was just Everleigh and her dad after that. Ever's father's personality was a lot like Ever's. He was very kind and patient and gave as much attention to his daughter as his military career would allow. She was his whole world after they lost Adelyn and he treated her like the sun rose and set with her. Even though she was only four when the attack happened, Everleigh has a lot of fond memories of her dad. Her fondest was how her dad had a liking for tacky, Hawaiian shirts and would let Everleigh go shopping with him and pick out her favorite. It was usually the brightest, most colorful shirt there was in the store but her dad would wear it anyway just to humor his little girl.
Everleigh and her father moved around a lot because her dad was in the army. They've lived in a ton of different places but moved to NYC to be closer to her father's mother after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and stayed after she passed away.
Her life with her dad was pretty happy and uneventful. She didn't mind all the moving. Ever was so young at the time that she didn't really think much about it. It wasn't like she was in school or making any real friends that she would miss when they left. Eventually, they settled in Adelyn's family home in NYC and had two dogs, Patch and Oliver. Patch was a German Shepard and Oliver was a Golden Retriever. Ever's dad would try to let her help out taking care of the dogs but being that she was so young at the time she could only really take them outside to play and help feed them. Still, the dogs were the best friends the kid had until she was taken away after the attack. Everleigh doesn't know what happened to them after that.
Ever's mother had a brother, Drake, that had been institutionalized for most of his adult life with a mental illness. He showed a violent temper at a young age, often lashing out at those around him when he was angry or upset about something. When he was a teenager he started hurting animals and his family feared that he would progress into more violent behavior as he got older. They placed him in a state mental facility when he was fifteen because they didn't know what else to do with him. They figured that was better than seeing him end up in jail.
Drake resented his whole family for locking him up. He blamed them all for taking away any chance he had at making a life for himself. Most of his time was spent fantasizing about the day when he could get free and take revenge on all of them. He figured that they took his life so he would take theirs.
He finally got his chance one day when he was twenty-three when one of the guards left a security door unlocked for a few minutes. Drake managed to slip through the door and out of the center. By the time the staff realized he was missing he was well away from the center and on his way to his parents' home, which was the last place he knew to find them.
Drake had no idea that both his parents had passed away by that time of natural causes and Adelyn and Kyle had inherited the house. Since Adelyn died the home went to Kyle. Drake broke in through the back door and found Kyle in the kitchen. He took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Kyle to death. Everleigh heard the struggle and went to see what had happened and walked in on the very end of the attack. When Drake saw her, he grabbed her and managed to stab her in the stomach before he was interrupted by a neighbor who heard a commotion and came to investigate. Drake fled and the neighbor called 911. Everleigh lost a lot of blood but her wound ended up being rather minor, missing any major organs. Her father died on the scene. After that Everleigh was put into foster care. She's been an orphan since she was four years old. Drake is nowhere to be found. The cops couldn't track him down and Everleigh's attempted murder and the murder of her father are both still open cases.
Everleigh was bounced from foster home to foster home for different reasons over the years. Sometimes it was just that there was no room for her and she had to move somewhere else. There had been times that she's been moved because abuse was suspected in the home she was in and she was taken away. In one of those situations, Ever started showing up to school with no lunch and no money in dirty clothes and it seemed that she hadn't bathed in a while that a teacher reported neglect and Ever was moved to yet another foster family.
It was the day of this move that Everleigh became a werewolf. On her way to her new foster placement, the social worker that was driving lost control of the car on a patch of ice and flipped the car over. The driver was killed instantly but Everleigh wasn't so lucky. She had extensive injuries and a lot of broken bones. A werewolf named Sam, came across the accident and, upon hearing sobbing and muffled cries for help, yanked the poor child out of the wreckage. Once Sam saw the condition that the child was in, he knew that she didn't have a lot of time and would die if he didn't act quickly. The only thing he could think to do was bite her and change her into what he was.
Sam secreted the child away in his home in the woods and kept her safe, eased her through her first three shifts and taught her to hunt in her new form. That was all he had time to really teach the child before he was murdered by a hunter. Everleigh has been on her own ever since and basically just wanders the woods, staying in a cave by herself.
She's very grateful for what she is. She knows that she would have died had it not been for what the werewolf that found her did. She doesn't resent him or the creature she has become but the only downside to her new situation is that she will, mostly likely, never be adopted. She can't go back into foster care and technically she's listed as a missing person after she "disappeared" from the accident scene. The best she can hope for is joining a pack but that idea kind of intimidates her. She doesn't know how to go about doing that so she's laying low right now, trying to stay out of trouble and out of the way.
