Don't ever take a single second to breathe, They're going to send me on a murdering spree. Nikolai stared up at the darkening sky, watching the sun set over the water of the secluded lake. It seemed that this was one of the few places that wasn't disturbed by the human population and their intense need to build houses in every corner of the world. To ruin a beauty such as this one would be a travesty, and he wasn't sure that he'd be able to take watching as this beautiful scenery was demolished for selfish purposes. He enjoyed nature, and the endless concrete jungles that had popped up all over the world always put him on edge.
It's not like he was running from anything. That couldn't be farther from the truth. He simply wasn't one to stay in a single place for very long. Over the years he'd told himself that maybe he could just find somewhere to settle and relax. Then he'd remember that Meenah wasn't with him anymore. What point was there to settle down if the one person he wanted to settle with him was nowhere to be found? He was fine being on his own, but it was a little lonely for his tastes. He'd often fall back into his hateful tendencies and try to find some way out of his nearly immortal existence. Then he'd heard rumors that his siblings were still alive. He'd been searching high and low for them, even delving into various records to try and locate them.
He sighed to himself, running a hand back through his hair before he turned to his pack that he'd set against a tree. He moved over to it, pulling out his art supplies and settling himself in the grass just above the white, sandy beach. He didn't know what he was going to draw, but he felt the need to do something creative. He'd been a slump as of late and maybe, if he could draw this sunset in time, he'd jump start his muse. The likeliness of that happening, however, was nil to none. He'd been trying to force himself out of his creative slump for a while. It obviously wasn't working. He needed something to do other than paint.
As soon as he had his supplies out, he put them away, grumbling to himself and then laying back in the grass. His eyes closed and he rested his arms behind his head, just deciding to watch the sunset for the time being. Whoever happened upon him would likely receive a friendly welcome. He didn't have qualms about talking to strangers anymore.

IF THE SKY COMES FALLING DOWN FOR YOU THERE'S NOTHING IN THIS WORLD I WOULDN'T DO After her arrival to Harper Valley in an attempt to beg Michael to forgive for her cowardice and stupidity, she decided to stay with him for a while. That being said, she had to buy a few outfits since she hadn't packed anything in haste to leave. Hell, she barely remembered to grab her purse on her way out of her appartment. That being said, she had fully expected Michael to reject her apology and send back to Vegas with some harsh words. He didn't and so there she was. It was daylight, and for the last few days, she had been spending all her time with Michael. The full moon was due in a few days, however, and so she wanted to scout a save place to turn without worrying about innocent people.
Besides, she had been cooped up for quite some time. She really did love Michael, but she was never the sort to stay stuck in a house particularly when the sun was out and begging to be enjoyed. So after a few wonderful hours of the day with Michael before she headed out to explore the town a little. Michael had to work when the sun went down, and Adrian was fun but tended to weird Anya out some. The other vampire was just a little stranger than the sort she was used to.
With that said, she could use a break from all that. So, wearing her new skinny jeans and her new hi print sweatshirt, she threw on her new coat and boots and grabbed her purse before heading out of Michael's huge house to explore. Before she headed into town, however, she decided to focus on the outskirts first. It was the best place to start to find a safe place to turn. She actually expected to run into no one at all, however, that didn't happen. She caught the scent of something nearby and went to investigate. It wasn't human. It wasn't vampire. Something told her that it was werewolf, but she hadn't been around many of those so she wasn't going to jump to conclusions until she knew for certain.
In all honesty, she wasn't expecting to come across what she did. It was one thing to find out that her older brother was still alive and a vampire, but to find her little brother alive as well was something else entirely. It really wasn't hard to tell who he was, even with him lying down on his back and staring up at the sky and her still quite a distance away. She took a deep breath and walked over to him. One way to be certain that he was indeed who she believed him to be and that was to ask him.
"Nicolai?" she asked, stopping right next to his head and looked down at him.

What if I'm Far From Home? Oh, brother, I will hear you call. What if I lose it all? Nikolai hadn't been able to refrain from drifting off. His mind started to haze over with foggy sleepiness and he was starting to lose himself to the world. However, he wasn't drifting off for long. His ears caught a sound and his nose a scent. However, it wasn't the scent of a werewolf and he hadn't met too many other werecreatures in his life. He could tell that whoever was heading in his direction was a cat of some sort. His eyes opened slowly and he stared at the skyline again, preparing himself mentally for a conversation. He was used to strangers. They were good company when you were a nomad like Nikolai. Priceless and welcome, as well. He'd met many a person in many a place and each time he met someone new, he would draw them. If they made a great impact on his life, he would paint them. Very few could say that they'd effected his life very much, save for Meenah. As much as he hoped at that moment, he was sure that Meenah wasn't a cat. The werewolf was about to turn to greet the person when he heard his name... and a familiar voice. It instantly pushed him back into a memory. A memory of his brother and sister. When they were all together and they were happy. Yes, Anya did torture the hell out of the two of them, but that's what sisters were for. Nikolai being the youngest of the surviving children, he was quite sure that he got the brunt of Anya's torture as a child. Nikolai had always been tolerant, though, and he was hardly bothered by his sisters behavior. That's when he put a face to the voice, bringing his gaze up toward the woman who was looking over him. His breath caught in his chest, his eyes searching her face. It was her. He knew it. His sister. The rumors were true. At least one of his siblings was alive. In a few quick movements Nik rolled over onto his stomach and then pushed himself to his feet, standing up straight and tall in front of his big sister. He was still in shock and a little bit of awe showed on his features as he searched for the words to greet his sister after almost one thousand years. Did you simply go 'Hello. How are you doing?' or did you take more care and make the greeting more sentimental? His eyes darted back and forth over her form and the only thing that escaped his lips was, "My god... you are alive, sister."

IF THE SKY COMES FALLING DOWN FOR YOU THERE'S NOTHING IN THIS WORLD I WOULDN'T DO Anya watched him as he looked up at her voice. Yes, it was Nikolai. He was certainly her little brother. Granted, he was a little older than she remembered. That didn't matter to her. His features were no different than when they were human.
"My god... you are alive, sister."
She smiled brightly at his observation to the obvious. Then again, she really couldn't fault him for his surprise. She honestly had no idea he was alive either. Sure she heard rumors, but after finding Andrei she figured that her luck reached an end when she reunited with Andrei and met their descendant back home in Vegas. She found one brother and gained a great-times-whatever niece. She truly thought the universe was done giving her anything, especially since she also got one of the two very things she never thought she would ever get a second chance to have again.
"Hello, Nik," she said, still smiling.
She was glad to see him. Her reunion with Andrei was a bit shakier as she had been a little more suspicious and heated in the beginning. Besides, Andrei was slightly different. They thought he died, and he didn't. When Anya was turned, she was a mess and could have used her older brother. It was also why she left the rest of her family. Nikolai was eighteen and taking care of their parents. He didn't need to deal with her, too. A large part of her was too ashamed to face them. Afterall, she murdered her husband and daughter in the cruelest, goriest way. She was a coward and ran, leaving them all to think the worst because she - herself - really thought even less of herself than they ever would.
"How have you been?" she asked.

[nospaces] [attr="class","circle"] 550[break] @anya and Andrei Belkov[break] Sorry that this took... three months to write! WHAT IF I'M FAR FROM HOME? N ikolai couldn't take his eyes off his big sister, letting his gaze wander down her form. She was just like he remembered her. She hadn't aged hardly a day since he had last seen her and his heart tugged a little painfully at the thought. Breathing in a little heavily, he finally realized that he'd been holding his breath. Letting it out in a fevered rush, he stepped right up to his sister and put his arms around her, pulling her right to him. He was shaking, he realized. He hadn't meant to let his emotions get the best of him in this situation, but after thinking that his sister had been dead for so long, he wasn't able to hold himself back like he normally would have.[break][break] It took a few long moments of holding her in his arms before he finally stopped shaking, stepping back, his hands still resting on her shoulders. His eyes were glassy like he was about to cry. He'd always been the emotional and sensitive one of the siblings, and that was clear even now. Nikolai gave her the sweetest smile that he could muster, nodding absently at her question. "Fine. Fine. I've been fine," he noted, trying not to lie too much. His life hadn't been completely and totally fine his entire life. There had never truly been a point in which he'd been happy with himself or the path that he'd followed throughout his life. The loss of his family in its entirety at such a young age had scarred him in more ways than one.[break][break] "Well, as fine as a man who lost everyone and everything in his life could be, I guess," he said cheerfully, both honesty and contentment showing in his eyes. Even though he'd been a little messed up after everyone was dead and gone, he'd tried his best to live his life to the fullest and make the most of what he'd been given. He really couldn't say that he regretted anything in his life, at least at this moment in time. Besides trying to throw himself off a cliff when he was younger and life had become filled with too much self-loathing and a need for self-destruction. Nikolai was just thankful that Meenah had been there to coax him from the edge. If she hadn't, he'd be bones at the foot of a mountainside, the height of the fall would have been what killed him and even the werewolf inside of him would have been able to save his life.[break][break] Nikolai swallowed hard, removing one of his hands from Anya's shoulders and scratching the back of his head with a nervous smile. "But, dear sister, I'm more concerned about how you have been. After all, it's been quite some time since I've seen you and I've spent my entire life thinking that you were dead. I'd heard rumors that your family had been attacked and that you'd died with them. I can see that they were all wrong, thankfully," he said in a rush, starting to ramble in his excitement. This was a true treat for him. He was so happy to see Anya right now that nothing else mattered except her. At the moment, she was the light that had suddenly come into his vision.
