The morning light coming through the bedroom window was what started rousing Everleigh out of sleep. She came awake slowly, everything from yesterday coming to her in bits and pieces. It was the feel of the mattress she was laying on and the softness of the pillow under her head that brought her eyes open. Both were foreign to her. She had no idea how long it had been since she had slept with either one. She just laid there for the longest time, staring around the room and slowly let her memory of the day before come back into focus.
She remembered the rain and making her way down the sidewalk towards the woods and the path that would take her to the cave that had been her home for the last couple of years. She remembered Urjasz barreling through the wall of the home across the street from where she was walking and coming after her. She remembered coming home with him and talking to him about his plans to establish a family of supernaturals here in New York, how he suggested that she join him and help him set things up. She smiled to herself at the idea. She might not be as in touch with her wolf as he was but his idea was still appealing to her. Of course it would be considering her background. She had nowhere else to go, no one else to care for her. And a family of supernaturals, others like her, was a lot more appealing than the thought of dealing with humans. She saw herself as a threat to them. They couldn't help her.
She took her time to sit up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she swung her legs over the side of the bed. The house was quiet but not completely silently. Urjasz was around, moving somewhere in the house. She grabbed her satchel bag from the side of the bed and brushed out some of the tangles from her hair. That would have to do since she didn't have any clean clothes. She would have to stay in her borrowed outfit until she could get some new ones.
Ever made her way to the door of the room and took her time coming down the stairs. She didn't know what the day was going to hold but she was betting things were going to be interesting from here on out.
